Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies applicable legislation, documentation, policies and procedures

implements the requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient assisting with coal seam gas control including:

applying gauge and graph interpreting skills

applying work instruction and procedures interpreting skills

applying recording and reporting procedures for operations and issues

works effectively with others to undertake and complete coal seam gas control that meets all of the required outcomes including:

working in teams and organising work activities to meet all task requirements

communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions

uses a range of communication strategies and techniques to communicate information to others

demonstrates completion of assisting with coal seam gas control that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

identifying flammable gases, emissions and ignition sources

assisting in the installation and maintenance of coal seam gas control equipment

operating a minimum of four (4) coal seam gas control equipment including:

mud system

blooie diverter lines

auxiliary equipment

pressure measuring devices

gas detection equipment and devices

diverters

participate in emergency drills and exercises on site


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge in assisting with coal seam gas control through:

the principles and practices of coal seam gas control

and complying with control procedures

determining risks and their controls

sources of ignition and their dangers and controls

sources of flammable gases and emissions and their dangers and controls

pumping systems principles

the purpose, operation and interpretation of measuring and testing devices

and enacting on kick detection warnings and indications and the responses to them

purpose, type and conduct of emergency drills and exercises

using communication methods and protocols
